Sleepy baby

No nap today!

ACA 2005 in Fort Worth

We made these Uaru family shirts -- Dean drew all the fish, and drew the adult male and female on our shirts. I batiked the baby and the juvenile on the kids' shirts, then dyed the background blue. I had hoped to dye ours to match but didn't have enough time.

Note the tiny firefighters each child is holding.

George spent a lot of time drawing.

My digital camera was a poor choice for fish photography. These two photos are of the same fish, seconds apart; nothing changed between shots as far as I know. The color in the upper photo is more realistic.

With Hernan Lopez-Fernandez, who spoke at the meeting of the South American Cichlid Study Group. Apparently it was a great talk; I wouldn't know since the children and I were asleep. His talk *started* at midnight.

Bye!

Little Firefighters

Grandma and Grandpa's present has been a real hit.

Here's George the day he got it:

Posing with the firetruck:

The very next day he let Alex wear it for a half an hour or more, without complaint:

All firefighters need a breathing apparatus, right?

Our littlest firefighter, dressed by George:

(note protective eyewear and walkie talkie)

Thanks, Mom & Dad.

Washing the cars; George's tree

George and Charlotte washed both cars one night before bed.

George made this tree with tiles Aunt Nancy & Uncle Con gave him. He wanted me to take a picture of it.

Big Truck Day

Both children had a wonderful time at Big Truck Day. At least half of the children from George's preschool were there, and there were lots and lots of trucks, each with an attendant who would explain all the controls.

George headed straight for the firetruck.

Here he's explaining some of the features of the truck to Aidan.

Charlotte checks out the first aid truck.

Look at that scoop!

Turns out a refrigerated semi is a great place to run.

The small excavator was Charlotte's favorite; we could hardly get her off of it.

George's birthday

George, Charlotte and I made this building-on-fire. Now Katelyn, Seth, George and Alex are going to put out the fire.

Katelyn is rescuing the trapped dolls; she then flung them to safety on the ground.

A little axe work is called for....

George's cake was a building on fire. He helped frost it.
